Santander Group launches two scholarship programmes to support female entrepreneurship

Santander Universidades in partnership with the London School of Economics and Political Science is launching two scholarship programmes for women. Applications for the 11th Santander Scholarship Women | W50 Leadership -LSE programme are open until 10 May, and the call for applications for the Santander Scholarship Women | Emerging Leaders -LSE programme runs until 16 June 2021.

The Santander Group has long supported diversity in the workplace and has run programmes to support women’s leadership in organisations. Recruitment is currently underway for two scholarship programmes organised by Santander Universidades in partnership with the London School of Economics and Political Science. The projects are part of Santander’s global #LifelongLearning campaign, in which the Group promotes the development of professional competences regardless of age.

Santander Scholarship Women | W50 Leadership -LSE

The 11th edition of the W50 project is aimed at women with more than ten years of managerial experience who aspire to hold senior leadership and management positions in any industry. During the programme, 50 women will participate in professional training to develop their personal leadership style through a dynamic and experience-based programme and individual coaching sessions. All meetings will take place online and will last for eight weeks. In addition to holding a relevant position, candidates must also speak English at least at C1 level and be a citizen or resident of one of the following countries: Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Poland, Uruguay, Peru, UK or USA.

According to the latest Eurostat data, Poland ranks second in the European Union in terms of the share of women in managerial positions. According to the report, in the third quarter of 2020, women in Poland held 44 percent of such positions. This is something to be proud of and a motivation for us to strive for the leading position in this ranking. In Santander Bank Polska we have many initiatives supporting the development of women, and programmes such as the Women Scholarship W50 or Santander Emerging Leaders are excellent examples of this.

Participants will receive online training in areas for future leaders such as organisational intelligence, corporate governance, business strategy and negotiation. All will be taught by the London School of Economics, one of the most prestigious international universities in the world. These fellowships are also a unique opportunity to share experiences with 50 women from different countries and professional backgrounds, encouraging networking and creating a global network of future female leaders in their sectors.

Santander Scholarship Women | Emerging Leaders –LSE

The second scholarship initiative is aimed at women who have five to twelve years of professional experience and aspire to become leaders, regardless of industry. Applicants must speak English at least at C1 level (or equivalent) and come from one of the countries covered by the programme: Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Poland, Uruguay, Peru, the United Kingdom and the United States or reside in them. The programme is open to 125 female scholarship recipients.

The seven-week programme will be delivered by the London School of Economics and Political Science, one of the world’s most prestigious universities, widely recognised for innovation and leadership. Participants will receive online training in English in the core skills of future leaders, such as negotiation strategies and organisational trends. They will learn to analyse and effectively negotiate using proven techniques, use conflict resolution strategies and improve their communication skills.

The initiatives are in line with the Santander Group’s ongoing commitment to gender equality in all the countries in which it operates, promoting and strengthening female talent. It is a commitment that places the bank among the ten most advanced companies in the world in this field according to the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index in 2021.
