The second edition of a unique project for schools – TO(działa)MY!

Goal 4 - Quality eduaction
Goal 17 - Partnerships for the goals

As of today, every school in Poland can apply to participate in the educational and social project „TO(działa)MY!”. This is the second edition of this unique initiative implemented jointly by UNICEF Polska and the Santander Bank Polska Foundation. The campaign is a response to the growing demand for projects that go beyond traditional education in Poland. It is an opportunity for students to acquire and develop practical skills and competencies necessary in today’s world.

The „To(działa)MY!” project is aimed at all teachers working with pupils from the 4th grade of primary school. Its aim is, among other things, to shape an attitude of social involvement among children and young people, to create space for young people to act in areas that are important to them, and to draw attention to the needs of their immediate environment. The project also provides an opportunity to obtain funding for the implementation of a social project prepared by the students. You can register to take part in the project until 15 October, 2021 on this site.

What is the project about?

As part of the „TO(działa)MY!” project, young people, working under the supervision of a teacher-coordinator, will form teams in which they will work on a social initiative in a chosen thematic area. The proposed themes include ecology and environmental protection as well as education, culture and entertainment. The institutions involved will be able to apply for funding for the project prepared by the students. Grants of two, five, ten, or even fifteen thousand zlotys will be funded by the Santander Bank Polska Foundation, a co-founder of the project. With additional funds, students will be able to turn their ideas into reality and do a lot of good for their immediate environment.

Young people have enormous potential. The previous edition of the programme showed their enthusiasm, their desire to change the world and their great social sensitivity. I am glad that through such programmes we give children and young people the opportunity to present their point of view and develop their creativity. Such activities allow them to go beyond the school curriculum, and thus prepare them much better for future challenges in life. I am convinced that the project will, once again, be a huge success. I keep my fingers crossed for all the participants.

Renata Bem

Deputy Director General of UNICEF Poland

We have already completed the first edition of the programme during which many very interesting projects were carried out, some without funding and others funded through our grant programme. I greatly appreciate the involvement and ingenuity of the students, as well as the great support of the teacher coordinators, especially when writing the grant applications. In this edition, we will give students and their teachers even more opportunities, to act because in the grant programme implemented within the framework of "To(działa)MY!", schools will be able to apply for slightly larger budgets for their projects of 5, 10, or even 15 thousand zlotys. I'm really keen to see the effects of these projects.

Success of the previous edition

The previous edition of the project, inaugurated in September 2020, was a huge success. Over 740 educational institutions from all over Poland signed up for the programme. Despite difficulties and limitations resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and remote learning, students and teachers eagerly got involved in the preparation of projects. Many extremely interesting and socially valuable projects were created. The 30 most interesting submissions received from schools were awarded funding.
