Goal 4 - Quality eduaction
Goal 8 - Decent work and economic growth
Goal 9 - Industry, innovation and infractructure
Goal 11 - Sustainable cities and communities
Goal 17 - Partnerships for the goals

Santander Bank Polska and the Santander Bank Polska Foundation, in partnership with eTutor, are launching a new edition of free online language courses, supported by the ‘Take a Language Course’ campaign. 100,000 places are available for participants to study English, Spanish, German, Italian and French. Applications are open until 2 June.

Poland is one of the countries where the majority of the population speaks English. According to the report ‘Foreign Languages for Career Development’ prepared by the Pracuj.pl website, as many as 88% of working Poles speak English, with 60% having at least an intermediate level of proficiency.  At the same time, according to the EF English Proficiency Index, our country ranks 13th in Europe and 15th in the world in this respect.  Therefore, there is still room for improvement in these skills, which are of key importance, especially in a competitive labour market.

Language skills are a must-have competence in today's dynamically changing world. They not only give you the opportunity to work in international corporations, carry out projects with specialists from all over the world or travel. They also provide an opportunity to benefit from technological innovations, acquire knowledge and participate in contemporary culture, science and art in a meaningful way.

More than one language

However, in today’s labour market, speaking only English may not be enough to succeed in some specialised industries. This is confirmed by the results of the 2024 BSS Salary Report by Grafton. According to the report, specialists who speak German, French and Italian are currently the most sought-after on the labour market. This is consistent with the data from the ManpowerGroup’s ‘Trend Report 2023. Salaries and the Labour Market’ in the SSC/BPO sector. They show that people who know German or French can earn up to 1,800 PLN gross more per month.

Courses for people aged 18 and over – regardless of proficiency level

Learning a foreign language should be developed and nurtured like a sport. For a simple game, the basics are enough, but if we want to achieve more, further work is necessary. Our previous language courses demonstrated the high level of commitment of the participants. We can see how important and necessary this initiative is. It broadens skills and competences in a field that allows for development in many other professional areas. In addition, the form of training - online and via a mobile application - is beneficial. Participants can learn at any time and from any place.
