Goal 5 - Gender equality
Goal 8 - Decent work and economic growth
Goal 11 - Sustainable cities and communities

The ‘Leader of Ethics’ award went to five companies that stand out for their ethical standards and respect for employees, business partners and society. The ‘Ethical Company’ is a competition organised by Bonnier Poland, the publisher of Puls Biznesu. In previous editions, the bank’s activities were also recognised and awarded the ‘Ethical Company’ title.

We regularly take part in the competition because it tests our ethical behaviour and confirms that our strategy is heading in the right direction, especially when it comes to Total Responsibility. It also motivates us to continue our strategy and keep improving it. This time, we were recognised for our high ethical standards, which make sustainability part of our business. This is how we build trust with our employees, customers, shareholders and local communities.

Artur Głembocki

Member of the Management Board of Santander Bank Polska

The verdict states that the bank attaches particular importance to compliance, manages compliance effectively and counteracts money laundering and corruption. The bank’s strategy, ‘We Help You Achieve More’, focuses, among other things, on digital development and social responsibility. In addition, the high quality of ESG reporting is emphasised, as well as the bank’s commitment to the development of local communities and education. This is reflected, among other things, in projects such as ‘Finansiaki’ and the programmes of the Santander Foundation, through which it supports initiatives that benefit society.

About the competition

To be listed among the Ethical Companies, a company must meet a number of criteria defined by the competition’s expert partner, PwC Legal. In the first stage, participants fill in a detailed questionnaire. They are asked about the procedures, codes and regulations in force in the company as well as the approach to the environment, community activities and employee training. Only companies that exceed the required score threshold move on to the next stage.

The second stage consists of verifying the collected information. It is reviewed and evaluated based on criteria prepared by experts from PwC Legal. The criteria address company procedures, codes and regulations, corporate culture focused on promoting ethical behaviour, employee training, and approach to environmental and social activities, among others.
