Santander Group and the University of Pennsylvania launch recruitment for training in the US

Santander Training | USA Summer Experience – UPenn is a new language programme developed by the Santander Group for 18-30 year olds.

Funded by the bank, the programme offers not only an English language course in the United States, but also coverage of airfare, accommodation, health insurance and a certificate of attendance from the University of Pennsylvania.

Applications can be submitted on the Santander Open Academy platform until 13 March 2024.

For the first time, the Santander Group, in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania, is launching the Santander | USA Summer Experience – Upenn training course.  The programme includes 90 places on the university campus in Philadelphia, at one of the best universities in the United States.

The aim of the training is to support the idea of lifelong learning and improving professional competence in English language skills. This year’s Santander | USA Summer Experience – Upenn programme is aimed at 18- to 30-year-olds from 11 countries where the Santander Group is present (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Germany, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, United States and Uruguay). Participation in the programme requires an English language proficiency of at least B1 level.

The Santander | USA Summer Experience – Upenn programme also provides coverage for the cost of flights, on-campus accommodation, medical insurance and a certificate of attendance and social and cultural activities.

The course will run for three weeks, from 8 to 28 July. The programme is designed to help learn and practise the use of English, while strengthening and practising other skills such as leadership competences, teamwork, persuasive communication, social media communication. During the course, there will also be psychology classes to support the development of soft skills that are essential in the job market.

You can apply via the Santander Open Academy website until 13 March. The training is free of charge. To apply, you do not need to have a university degree, nor do you need to be a Santander Group customer.

"Immersion in a language, the opportunity to become accustomed to it, is the best way to accelerate progress in learning a foreign language. The programme we have created in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania offers intensive learning in a multicultural environment. Another incredible advantage of our training is the circumstances in which participants will spend each of their days, in the beautiful and iconic city of Philadelphia.

Wojciech Leśniewski

Director of Santander Universidades in Poland

Jack Sullivan, Director of the University of Pennsylvania English Language Programs, added, “We are thrilled to continue our valued partnership with Banco Santander by welcoming scholarship recipients to our beautiful Ivy League campus in Philadelphia where we will develop their professional English skills, as well as explore important sociocultural dynamics behind the language that factor into effective intercultural communication.”

The Santander Group is increasing its commitment to education and widening access to the labour market. To this end, it is increasingly involved in the implementation of educational programmes hand in hand with prestigious international institutions. All the training programmes offered by the Santander Group can be found on the Santander Open Academy platform.
