Role of Santander Bank Polska Foundation
Thinking of the future of our country, we invest in young, ambitious and responsible people. We promote the right social attitudes, encourage activity and create opportunities.
The Foundation has been operating continuously since 1997, implementing grant programmes for organisations working with children and young people.
On 28 November 2017, the Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Gala took place in Warsaw. The evening was attended by the members of the Management Board of Santander Bank Polska, members of the Foundation Board, representatives of the local authorities, organisations collaborating with the Foundation, the bank’s employees and volunteers, as well as winners of the 2017 edition of the “Here I Live, Here I Make Changes” competition. The best employee volunteering initiatives and the most active volunteers were awarded.
“Nowadays, it is crucial that such an important institution as the bank supports the development of local communities. The Foundation plays an enormous role in this assistance. Throughout its 20 years of activity, it has been reinforcing the positive image of Santander Bank Polska, also as an employer. I would also like to thank all the volunteers. Your hard work and commitment allow us to believe that what we do makes sense” – said Dorota Strojkowska member of the Management Board of Santander Bank Polska, the main founder of the Foundation, opening the event. During the gala, the best corporate volunteering projects and the most active volunteers were awarded.

Foundation for safety
Two Ends of the Net
Once again, the Foundation joined the Regional Police Headquarters in Poznań in the implementation of a project, the aim of which is to make children and young people aware of online risks. Methodologists from the Wielkopolska Police Force together with our bank employees delivered as series of classes attended by a total of 6,256 pupils.
Grandparent Scam, Policeman Scam
The Foundation, in cooperation with the Regional Police Headquarters in Poznań and the Regional Court in Poznań organised a conference addressed to senior citizens, ”Don’t Be Fooled” attended by 300 people. This is how the cooperation on the “Grandparent Scam, Policeman Scam” project was inaugurated. The aim of the project is to make people aware of the multiple scams targeted at senior citizens (for example those, where scammers impersonate a grandchild or police officer) by showing them how to stay safe and how to react in potentially risky situations. One of the elements of this campaign were information leaflets with warnings addressed to elderly residents. In addition, all the monitors in our bank branches in Poland, displayed videos related to this topic. As part of the project, the police from the Wielkopolska region, in partnership with other institutions, execute senior citizen safety and prevention measures.
Foundation supports socially active youth
Youth in Action
This nationwide program, organized by the Centre for Civic Education in cooperation with our Foundation and the Polish-American Freedom Foundation, is addressed to primary, secondary and upper secondary school pupils, as well as youth group supervisors from educational institutions throughout Poland.
The aim of the programme is to promote knowledge about the local community and to show how to be active in your immediate neighbourhood. These local initiatives allow young people not only to get to know better the place where they live, but also gain competences that come useful in adult life and gain a sense of empowerment and confidence. 740 pupils took part in the programme.
