The Green Ribbons #DlaPlanety campaign
Santander Bank Polska was actively engaged in the celebration of the World Environment Day and became the campaign partner
The official launch of the Green Ribbons #DlaPlanety (For Our Planet) campaign organized by UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Centre (an agency implementing the UN’s Environment Program in Poland in partnership with the Warsaw City Hall), took place on June 5 2018, that is on the World Environment Day. This year’s global theme of the Day was #BeatPlasticPollution and in Poland it was accompanied by an additional campaign called #DlaPlanety (For Our Planet). On June 5, many buildings and sites in Warsaw, including the Palace of Culture and the Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridge, were lit green and the people supporting the campaign wore green ribbons.
As of the campaign start date, each of us can make a personal commitment for the environment on the DlaPlanety.pl (For Our Planet) website where you can find many examples of simple activities reducing our impact on the environment, such as using multiple-use tableware instead of disposable plates and cups.
On the World Environment Day many of the most emblematic buildings across Poland were illuminated in green, for instance, the Palace of Culture in Warsaw, the town halls in Bielsko-Biała, Olsztyn, Łuków and Rzeszów, a number of bridges in Gdańsk, the Capitol Music Theatre and the football stadium in Wrocław, the Town Hall, the Jordan bridge and the Wilda city beach in Poznań and the Spodek Arena in Katowice. A number of ecological picnics and fairs were organised in different cities and in Warsaw a debate on environmental issues and challenges was held, attended by public administration official, NGOs, researchers and scientists and entrepreneurs.
The patronage over the Green Ribbons #DlaPlanety campaign was assumed by the Minister of the Environment Henryk Kowalczyk, the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology and the European Commission Representation Office in Poland.
