We perceive climate change as a threat to everyone. Therefore, we want to make a contribution to combating climate changes in the area where our impact is most powerful – through our products and services. In order to succeed, we need to take actions at all stages of the value chain. To this end, we encourage our employees and customers to adopt  environment-friendly attitudes  and pay attention to environmental criteria in procurement processes.

The Climate Change Policy of Santander Bank Polska is a document in force in the entire Group which  It lays down the actions and initiatives that support environmental protection and seeks to mitigate the impact of climate change.

Measures implemented by Santander Bank Polska to combat climate change:

  • financial activity,
  • control of resource consumption and emission levels by all the bank’s facilities,
  • other environmental protection activities, including awareness-raising among employees, and in the supply chain through initiatives aimed at suppliers and by means of product and service selection rules.

With regard to financial services, the climate change policy is implemented through financing and supporting projects associated with:

  • renewable energy

  • energy efficiency

  • electric, hybrid and low-emission cars

  • water and waste management infrastructure

  • products and services for sustainable construction

  • greenhouse gas emissions trading activities

  • products and services for the agricultural and livestock breeding sector (including weather-related and other natural risks)

  • responsible investments

Sector policies

The Climate Change Policy of Santander Bank Polska is supplemented by the following sector policies regulating the financing of projects and customers from sensitive sectors:

  • Sustainability policy. Energy Sector.
  • Sustainability policy. Soft commodities sector.
  • Sustainability policy. Defence sector.
  • Policy of financing sensitive sectors.

Our organization respects good international practices and guidelines concerning social and environmental affairs, in particular including the Equator Principles which guide our assessment of environmental and social risks in financed projects. To date, the principles have been signed by 96 financial institutions from all over the world.
