Thanks to the #doublethepowerofhelp campaign, hospitals in Poland will receive over 5 million PLN!

More than 15 thousand people joined the charity fundraiser organised by Santander Bank Polska and the Santander Foundation to raise funds for the purchase of medical equipment and protective clothing necessary during the pandemic for 23 hospitals in Poland. Inaugurating the campaign, the bank donated PLN 2 million, and then doubled each amount paid by the donors.

The #doublethepowerofhelp campaign ended on April 30. Owing to the generosity of Santander Bank Polska’s clients and other donors, as well as the commitment of the bank itself and its employees, PLN 3,090,605.86 million was paid into a specially created Santander Foundation account.

We recorded over 15.5 thousand contributions. On average, one person donated about 100 PLN to the campaign, and one of the great donors donated as much as 20 thousand PLN at a time. We thank you for each zloty paid. We are happy with the effect that our campaign has brought. The general mobilization and sense of community are extremely important nowadays, and if we can do something good for others together, it is already a real success and a reason to be proud.

comments Marzena Atkielska, President of the Santander Bank Polska Foundation

The ventilators donated by the bank will become a part of the equipment of the newly created sub-ward within the Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Unit of the University Clinical Hospital in Wrocław.The sub-ward will secure the needs of the region with regard to the treatment of patients with acute respiratory failure caused by the SARS-CoV2 virus.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone who joined our campaign. Our customers, employees and friends have big hearts. Thanks to their sensitivity and power of cooperation, with our additional support, we have raised funds for the purchase of necessary gear and equipment for emergency departments of hospitals. I am proud that together we are helping the heroes of the present days – doctors, nurses, paramedics and the entire medical staff.

said Arkadiusz Przybył, Vice-President of the Management Board of Santander Bank Polska

The new Ambassador of Santander Bank Polska, Marcin Dorociński, also thanked the donors for their involvement in the campaign in a short video.:

However, this is not the end of Santander Bank Polska’s and the Santander Foundation’s involvement in aid actions. All over Poland, for over a month, volunteers of the foundation have been sewing masks, which are successively distributed to hospitals, medical facilities and employees of bank branches who have direct contact with customers. The Santander Foundation bought materials (cotton, interlining, elastic band) necessary to sew over 13 thousand masks. They were sent, among others, to the Public Hospital in Kępno, the Provincial Hospital in Poznań, the „Swoboda” Family Support Center in Poznań and to the students of the University of the Third Age at MOKSiAL in Szklarska Poreba.

More masks are being made all the time for delivery to institutions in need all over Poland. In addition, the Foundation purchased 2 washer-driers, which were donated to paramedics in Radzionków and Krotoszyn.
